ATTRAVERSO LA BARRIERA DELLA SOFFERENZA

Serres ha visto un altro giorno sotto il soffocante sole greco, nonostante un bel temporale durante l’ultimo test di domenica! Ancora una volta, abbiamo avuto la nostra giusta dose di sorprese e i risultati sono cambiati di frequente e drasticamente nel corso dei 10 test. Ascoltiamo tutte le notizie del secondo giorno …

La prima vittima della dura giornata è stato Giacomo REDONDI (I – Husqvarna). Quinto assoluto ieri e vincitore della classe E2, l’italiano ha subito una brutta caduta nel primo Enduro Test e si teme una frattura alle costole. Giacomo ha perso più di 14 minuti e stringendo i denti, è riuscito a finire al 19 ° posto nell’assoluta.
Dopo il ritiro di ieri, questa mattina Alex SALVINI (I – Honda) ha coraggiosamente preso il via per cercare di incamerare punti preziosi per la classifica generale. impresa riuscita visto la 12a posizione assoluta di giornata.

Ma forse la più grande vittima di questo soffocante weekend è stata Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta Boano). Forte fin dall’inizio, e dominando il Day 1, il pilota della Beta Boano ha tirato fuori un gap fin dall’inizio del Day 2. Tuttavia, poiché la stanchezza ha avuto la meglio, il britannico ha avuto un bell’ incidente all’ultimo Enduro Test e si è infortunato alla spalla sinistra. Ma questo incidente potrebbe costare caro a FREEMAN il prossimo fine settimana in Italia, perchè se non si dovesse riprendere, i suoi diretti avversari saranno pronti ad aprofittarne. Vedremo come andrà a finire …

OLDRATI è la vera sorpresa di Serres, avendo insediato FREEMAN per la vittoria finale nel secondo giorno di gara. Sul podio sale anche Matteo CAVALLO che si impone così di diritto tra i grandi.

Lottando per il podio di EnduroGP per la maggior parte della giornata, Christophe CHARLIER (F – Honda RedMoto) causa due errori di troppo, hanno relegato il francese in quinta posizione, davanti a lui il britannico Danny MCCANNEY (GB-TM) .

CHARLIER finalmente premiato!

ENDURO1: FREEMAN conquista la vittoria di oggi davanti a OLDRATI e CAVALLO. Davide GUARNERI (I – Honda RedMoto) e Kirian MIRABET (E-Honda RedMoto) hanno completato la Top 5 nella classe delle piccole cilindrate.

ENDURO2: Il Day2 è stata una giornata folle e drammatica. Dopo la sua pesante caduta, il vincitore del Day 1 REDONDI è stato costretto a tentare di limitare i danni sringendo i denti e ha dovuto accontentarsi di un’ottavo poto. Il “guerriero” Alex SALVINI mantiene così la testa della E2 prima di arrivare al GP di casa a Rovetta. Alex ha concluso 5° di categoria con una spalla veramente messa male. Mentre l’italiano tiene la testa, il duo francese CHARLIER e LARRIEU si avvicina pericolosamente. CHARLIER pilota Honda RedMoto, ha ottenuto una meritata vittoria nel Day2 e LARRIEU (TM) è subito dietro di lui. Questa categoria rimane la più disputata e imprevedibile, nei giochi ci sono ancora almeno quattro piloti in lizza per il titolo!

ENDURO3: Danny MCCANNEY ha ottenuto la sua seconda vittoria della stagione davanti a Steve HOLCOMBE e il costante Anthony GESLIN (F – Beta) …

KYTÖNEN schiaccia VERONA

Un paio di volte in questa stagione abbiamo visto Enric FRANCISCO (E – KTM) avvicinarsi a scalzare Andrea VERONA (I – TM) dal primo posto. Ma ci è voluto fino al 4 ° GP della stagione per fermare la scia vincente delle 7 vittorie dell’italiano! Tuttavia, non è stato il pupillo di Ivan CERVANTES a realizzare questa impresa, ma il finlandese Roni KYTÖNEN (Husqvarna). Assente alla gara d’apertura in Germania, il pilota di Motorsport Kytönen ha già mostrato un grande potenziale durante il tour iberico e ora ha dimostrato di poter competere con i migliori giovani talenti del pianeta.
Ma FRANCISCO gli ha dato del filo da torcere, rimanendo sulla scia del finlandese fino all’ultimo test della giornata. VERONA è riuscito a recuperare un buon terzo posto, strappandolo ad uno sfortunato Antoine MAGAIN (I – KTM) all’ultimo giro!
Degna di nota è anche la squalifica di Ruy BARBOSA (CL – Husqvarna), eliminato dalla gara dalla FIM a causa di comportamento spericolato e antisportivo.

Naturalmente anche KYTÖNEN ha battuto VERONA nella classe J1, mentre MAGAIN ha conquistato il terzo posto. FRANCISCO ha conquistato una seconda vittoria in J2 in altrettanti giorni davanti alla grande speranza ceca Krystof KOUBLE (KTM) e Jack EDMONDSON (GB – Sherco) …

KNIGHT vince il titolo nella Champion Lubricants Enduro Open Senior !

Questo Maxxis Grand Prix in Grecia, ci ha anche regalato il primo vincitore nella storia della nuova Champion Lubricants Enduro Open World Cup. Presente in ogni gara dall’inizio della stagione e imbattuto fino ad ora, la “leggenda dell’enduro” David KNIGHT (GB – TM), ha terminato il suo compito senza problemi domenica, lasciando la Grecia, come vincitore della coppa della categoria Open Senior, 14 anni dopo il suo primo titolo mondiale, vincendo anche qui a Serres! KNIGHTER ha battuto l’austriaco Werner MÜLLER (KTM), 2 °. E lo svedese Patrik ANDERSSON (Yamaha) ha completato la Top 3, conquistando il suo primo podio internazionale!

Nella Open 2-Stroke, Gonçalo REIS (P – Gas Gas) ha fatto il bis , mancandogli così solo una vittoria per essere incoronato campione. Secondo è arrivato George PISIMANIS (GR – Yamaha). Vediamo se il pilota portoghese può finire il suo duro lavoro il prossimo fine settimana a Rovetta (Italia).

Infine, nella Open 4-Stroke, Mathias VAN HOOF (B – Beta), che ha avuto un Day 1 molto sfortunato a causa di un guasto meccanico, è stato finalmente in grado di vincere la sua prima vittoria a livello mondiale! Il belga ha conquistato questa brillante vittoria davanti a Konstantinos NIKIAS (GB – Husqvarna) e Panagiotis ZAFEIRIOU (GB – Suzuki).

Quindi chapeau per il Serres OffRoad Premio Aris LIOUGAS e Christos POUFTAS che hanno affrontato la considerevole sfida di sostituire il GP della Corsica in soli 3 mesi, qualcosa che hanno fatto eccellentemente con tre speciali di alto livello. I riders stessi hanno anche messo in scena un grande spettacolo per gli entusiasti fan della Grecia. Tutti i piloti non avranno molto tempo per guarire dalle conseguenze dei loro incidenti e recuperare fisicamente questo pesante fine settimana, perché una gara iconica e rinomatamente difficile li attende il prossimo fine settimana, la leggendaria Valli Bergamasche. Più di 150 corridori sono attesi sulla linea di partenza di questa corsa epica!

Brad FREEMAN: “Sono distrutto, ero partito bene e ho fatto una bella pausa dopo due giri, ma sono stato sbadato nell’Enduro Test e sono caduto molto … ho perso molto tempo e mi sono fatto molto male, soprattutto alla spalla! Ma sono ancora molto soddisfatto di questa vittoria, mi ha aiutato a migliorare il mio distacco nella classifica dell’ EnduroGP. Ora devo solo sperare che il mio infortunio alla spalla non sia poi così grave e che potrò essere in forma al 100 % il prossimo fine settimana!”

Thomas OLDRATI: “Sono molto soddisfatto di questo secondo posto: mi sono sentito carico per tutto il fine settimana e sono rimasto un po’ deluso di finire 4 ° ieri. Ho saputo sfruttare il rallentamento degli altri per ottenere questo podio e sono stato anche vicino a vincere dopo l’incidente di Frememan. Non vedo l’ora che arrivi il GP d’Italia, dove correrò davanti al pubblico di casa! “

Christophe CHARLIER: “Finalmente, una vittoria! Dopo i miei problemi meccanici e il crash di ieri, volevo davvero fare bene! Roni KYTÖNEN: “Sono così contento di questa prima vittoria, soprattutto perché VERONA è stato così difficile da battere: mi è stati sotto con FRANCISCO fino alla fine , ma il piccolo distacco che ho ottenuto nell’Enduro Test è stato sufficiente. Open Senior Podium

Through the Pain Barrier…

Serres saw another day under the sweltering Greek sunshine, despite a big storm during the very last test on Sunday! Once again, we had our fair share of surprises and the results changed frequently and drastically over the course of the 10 test Let’s hear all the news from Day 2…

The first victim of the tough day was Giacomo REDONDI (I – Husqvarna). Fifth overall yesterday and the winner of the E2 class, the Italian had a heavy fall in the first Champion Lubricants Enduro Test of the day and damaged his ribs. He lost more than 14 minutes and managed to finishes the day 19th overall by gritting his teeth.

After a DNF yesterday, Alex SALVINI (I – Honda) bravely took to the start again this morning and rode in pain to finish in an honorable 12th position overall, taking some valuable points.

But perhaps the biggest victim of this stifling weekend was Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta Boano). Strong from the outset, and dominating Day 1, the Beta Boano rider pulled out a gap right from the start of Day 2. However, as fatigue set in the Brit had a huge crash on the last Enduro Test and injured his left shoulder. Despite this, he was able to hold offThomas OLDRATI (I – Honda RedMoto) and Matteo CAVALLO (I – Sherco) and win the EnduroGP class nevertheless. Increasing his gap on a struggling Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) who could only managed 7th overall today. So it was in fact OLDRATI who was the surprise of Serres by being the closest rider toFREEMAN on the second day of racing. They were joined on the podium by another Italian, the impressive CAVALLO.

Fighting for the EnduroGP podium for the majority of the day, two errors relegated a resurgent Christophe CHARLIER (F – Honda RedMoto) to fifth position, he was beaten by Britain’s Danny MCCANNEY (GB – TM) who courageously put his hand injury to the back of his mind.

CHARLIER Finally Rewarded!

With a 100% win-streak in Enduro 1, FREEMAN took victory on Sunday ahead ofOLDRATI and CAVALLO. Davide GUARNERI (I – Honda RedMoto) and Kirian MIRABET (E – Honda RedMoto) completed the Top 5 in this small engine capacity class.

As for the Enduro 3 class, Danny MCCANNEY took his second win of the season ahead of Steve HOLCOMBE and the consistent Anthony GESLIN (F – Beta)…

In Enduro 2, it was another crazy and dramatic day. After his early and heavy crash, Day 1 winner REDONDI was forced to try and limit the damage by finishing 8th. For his part, the “warrior” Alex SALVINI holds on to the title lead in E2 before arriving at his home GP in Rovetta. He finished 5th with his damaged shoulder, only 14 seconds behind the Chilean Benjamin HERRERA (CL – Beta). While the Italian is still the leader, the French duo of CHARLIER and LARRIEU are edging dangerously close to him. Honda RedMoto’s CHARLIER took a deserved victory on Day 2 and TM’s LARRIEU was just behind him in 2nd. Clearly, this category remains unpredictable and there are still at least four riders in with a shout of the title!

KYTÖNEN Takes VERONA Down

A couple of times this season we’ve seen Enric FRANCISCO (E – KTM) come close to knocking Andrea VERONA (I – TM) off the top spot. But it has taken until the 4th GP of the season to end the 7-strong winning streak of the Italian! However, it wasn’t Ivan CERVANTES’ protege who achieved this feat but instead the Finn, Roni KYTÖNEN (Husqvarna). Absent at the opening round in Germany, the Kytönen Motorsport rider already showed great potential during the Iberian tour and now he has proven that he can compete with the best young talents on the planet.

But FRANCISCO gave him a hard time, and remained on the Finn’s tail until the last test of the day. VERONA managed to fight his way back to a useful third place, pipping an unfortunate Antoine MAGAIN (I – KTM) on the last lap!

Also worth noting is the disqualification of Ruy BARBOSA (CL – Husqvarna), taken out of the race by the FIM due to reckless and unsporting behaviour.

Naturally, KYTÖNEN also had the beating of VERONA in the J1 class, while MAGAINtook third place. FRANCISCO grabbed a second J2 win in as many days in front of the great Czech hope Krystof KOUBLE (KTM) and Jack EDMONDSON (GB – Sherco)…

KNIGHT Wins the Champion Lubricants Enduro Open Senior Title!

This Maxxis Grand Prix of Greece also gave us our very first victor in the history of the newly-created Champion Lubricants Enduro Open World Cup. Present at every race since the start of the season and undefeated so far, ’Enduro legend’ David KNIGHT (GB – TM) finished the job without a hitch on Sunday and leaves Greece, as the cup winner of the Open Senior category, 14 years after his first ever World title, also won here in Serres! KNIGHTER beat Austria’s Werner MÜLLER (KTM), 2nd. And Sweden’s Patrik ANDERSSON (Yamaha) completed the Top 3, taking his very first International podium!

In Open 2-Stroke, Gonçalo REIS (P – Gas Gas) did the double and is only one win away from taking the crown. Second was George PISIMANIS (GR – Yamaha). Let’s see if the rider from Portugal can finish the job next weekend in Rovetta (Italy).

Finally, in Open 4-Stroke, Mathias VAN HOOF (B – Beta) who had a very unlucky Day 1 with mechanical failure was finally able to take his first world level win! The Belgian took this brilliant victory ahead of Konstantinos NIKIAS (GB – Husqvarna) andPanagiotis ZAFEIRIOU (GB – Suzuki).

So it’s ’hats off’ to Serres OffRoad Premio Aris LIOUGAS and Christos POUFTASwho took on the considerable challenge of replacing the Corsican in just 3 months, something they did excellently with three high level special tests. The riders themselves also put on a great show for the enthusiastic Greek fans. There’s not much time for everyone to heal their wounds and recover from this punishing weekend because an iconic and infamously tough race awaits them next weekend – the legendary Valli Bergamasque. More than 150 riders are expected at the start line of this epic race!

I was off to a good start and pulled a comfortable gap after two laps, but I was careless in the Enduro Test and I fell hard … I lost a lot of time and hurt myself a lot, especially my shoulder! But I am still very satisfied with this victory, it’s helped improve my gap in the EnduroGP standings. Now I just have to hope that my shoulder injury isn’t too bad and that I will be able to be 100% next weekend!”

Thomas OLDRATI: “I am very satisfied with this second place! I felt good all weekend and was disappointed to finish 4th yesterday. I knew how to take advantage of the decline of the others to get this podium and I was even close to winning afterFREEMAN’s crash. I make two mistakes that cost me the podium in EnduroGP but I am very happy with this first victory in E2. Danny MCCANNEY: “I was really disappointed with my result yesterday and honestly, I did not think much about the EnduroGP ranking. I got through the pain and I managed my goal, which was to win in E3 this weekend. The 4th place in EnduroGP is a great bonus of course!”

Roni KYTÖNEN: “I’m so happy with this first win, especially as VERONA has been so hard to beat. It was very tight until the end with FRANCISCO but the small gap that I managed to pull in the Enduro Test was enough. With this victory, I’m able to show everyone that I have the talent to win in Enduro. This is my first career victory at the World Championship and I’m proud of it!”
