Barreda (bikes) and Martins (quads) look to defend Baja Aragón titles

The small Spanish town of Teruel will host Baja Aragón, round two of the FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup, for the sixth successive year on July 20-22. 
Last year’s winners in the motorcycle and quad category, Joan Barreda (Honda) and Arnaldo Martins (Suzuki), will be fighting hard to retain their crowns.

For this 35th edition of Baja Aragón, organised by Octagon32 motorcycles are registered for the FIM Cross-Country Bajas World Cup category, including three women – Spanish riders Sara Garcia (Yamaha) and Rosa Romero (KTM) and the Portuguese Rita Vieira (Yamaha)
Four Juniors will also be in the running: Rita Viera (Yamaha), Team Orlen’s Polish duo of Maciej Giemza (KTM) and Adam Tomiczek (KTM) and the Spaniard Ivan Donoso (Honda)
Defending champion Joan Barreda tops the entry list on his Honda, but the factory Spanish rider faces competition from the likes of Joan Pedrero (IES) and David Casteu’s Team Sherco – composed of Michael and Adrien Metge and Aravind Prabhakar – and many other outsiders who could spring a surprise.

Fourteen riders are registered in the quad category, including Czech female Olga Rouckova (Yamaha) and Junior riders Miguel Antonio Esteban and Dani Vila, both on Yamahas
Portugal’s Arnaldo Martins (Suzuki) won the category in 2017 and will find opposition from the likes of Mario Gajon (KTM) and young Miguel Antonio Esteban (Yamaha).

Friday’s super special stage of around 10kmand two other longer stages on Saturday and one on Sunday will run in the province of Aragón over a competitive distance of 529.50km288.50km of liaison and a total of 818km over the three days.

The course will be kept secret until road books are delivered, but the photo below gives an idea of ​​the area and terrain that is to be crossed.
