Vince Nicola Tonetti, nonostante un’ultima tappa – terribile per tutti – che ha stravolto la classifica del rally

Primosten – Nessuno se lo sarebbe aspettato che l’ultima tappa, o meglio, la prima speciale della quarta ed ultima tappa del Croatia Rally 2014, organizzato dalla TRX, sarebbe stata così tosta.

Una speciale impossibile, o quasi. Impossibile sbagliare di metro. I riferimenti del road book erano ineccepibili, ma bisognava trovarli e capirli . Il pino bruciacchiato per esempio, non era alto sei metri, ma uno. Le buche e le pietre grandi, erano un metro più in là di dove tutti pensavano di averle trovate e quindi invece per completare i 22 km di speciale a qualcuno è servita addirittura un’ora. I due leader della classifica, per esempio. Nicola Tonetti ha chiuso la prima PS in 39. posizione, mentre il suo rivale numero uno è arrivato 43°, rispettivamente con 14’ di ritardo e 18’. In compenso ha vinto la ps Michael Miggitsch, in 33’44” davanti a Jens Andersen e Cesare Gallina che stamattina partiva per primo.

A quel punto la classifica era davvero completamente rivoluzionata, con coloro che occupavano l’ottava ed anche la nona posizione in grado di lottare per il podio.

La seconda speciale per fortuna era più veloce, meno navigata e più scorrevole, ma soprattutto tutti i piloti, almeno quelli che occupavano le prime dieci posizioni della classifica partivano con il coltello fra i denti. Ederer vinceva in 18’33” davanti a Tonetti, staccato di 7” ed un incredibile Mattia Riva otteneva il terzo posto di ps con 15” di ritardo dal primo. Lo svizzero Gallina era quarto a 48” davanti a Miggitsch a 50“.

Con questi tempi di speciale la tappa finiva con la vittoria di Miggitsch, seguito da Jens Andersen e Cesare Gallina. Tonetti era addirittura 25° di giornata, con un ritardo di 13 minuti dal primo, mentre Ederer finiva 35° a 16’ dal primo.

Ironia della sorte tutti quelli che hanno ottenuto risultati strabilianti oggi erano più indietro in classifica e quindi seppur risalendo la graduatoria a grossi salti, non sono arrivati a toccare i primissimi posti.

Così Nicola Tonetti, partito in testa stamattina, con 45” di vantaggio su Edi Ederer è riuscito, nonostante si sia perso nella prima speciale a vincere per la prima volta questo rally. E come se non bastasse questa è la sua prima vittoria, in assoluto, in un rally raid.

Il pilota, 25 anni, di Milano, studente universitario, ha avuto anche un pizzico di fortuna perchè tutti i suoi più diretti avversari non sono riusciti ad approfittare dei suoi errori, ed anzi, sono caduti anche loro in altrettanti sbagli, sempre sulla prima prova speciale. Chi ha avuto la peggio è stato senza dubbio Edi Ederer, che all’arrivo era talmente scoraggiato da non trovare neanche le parole per commentare la sua gara: il tedesco non solo ha sbagliato strada ma ha riportato anche 45min di penalità, proprio per i grossi errori di navigazione ed è colui che ha pagato il prezzo più caro. Ha perso la seconda posizione ed anche il podio, scivolando in 16. posizione assoluta.

Secondo si piazza l’austriaco, Peter Deinbacher (Husaberg) e terzo – a sorpresa – Rainer Wicki con la Yamaha WR450 doppia trazione. La classe B, Medium, viene vinta da Massimiliano Segreto su Ktm 690, mentre la Heavy va a Stefan Hessler con la Suzuki DR Big Rallye. Primo dei quad il tedesco, Renè Koehler su Ktm 525. Serena Borsi, 19. vnce la classifica riservata alle Lady .
