HUSQVARNA FACTORY RIDER RUBEN FARIA FOURTH OVERALL IN MOROCCO RALLY

STRONG SHOWING BY HUSQVARNA-SUPPORTED JACOPO CERUTTI

Husqvarna Motorcycle’s Ruben Faria on Friday wrapped up the team’s first rally raid, the Morocco Rally, with a solid fourth overall in what was the final round of the 2015 FIM World Cross-Country Rallies Championship. Faria and team colleague Pela Renet, who unfortunately crashed out of the penultimate stage, were competing in Morocco to pick up essential track time as preparation for the Dakar Rally in January 2016.

In addition to Faria’s fourth place, young Italian Jacopo Cerutti, who rode as a Husqvarna-supported competitor, finished overall tenth in a strong field of international competitors. Cerutti launched his rally raid career at the 2015 Sardegna Rally Race, also part of the FIM World Cross-Country Rallies Championship. The rally was also part of the Dakar Challenge and his sixth place in this event also won him a free entry into the Dakar Rally 2016.

Faria’s Morocco Rally unfortunately started with a small crash on the opening stage, which left him bruised on the left side, but not seriously injured. The Dakar Rally veteran however continued to gain form as the rally progressed and registered three top ten finishes in the last three of the five stages.

The competition also came to an abrupt and disappointing end for Faria’s teammate Renet. The French rider and proven enduro sport champion was contesting his first ever rally raid but his crash in Stage Four saw the end of his race.

The Husqvarna team was in Morocco to train and test material, and to put in some quality track time on the Husqvarna FR 450 Rally machine ahead of Dakar 2016.
